Explore our 2024 Seldovia Adventures

This is where we recognize the sweat and tears of those who are inducted into the BIG 'But Club when they bring in halibut 50#+ Halibut and other Monsters of the Sea!

Ashley was waitressing at Jack & Aiva's when the table she was helping was jokingly asking who had the best fishing spots...she said well come with me and my husband and we will show you!  They were in town to do our preliminary drill testing at Jakolof Bay for our new dock and finished so they jumped at the opportunity to go fishing!  One, Two and Alex had never been out on the Salt water fishing and had an killer time! Laughs all day and fish stories that will forever grow!  Big John also joined us and we had smooth sailings down to the islands where we got into wall worthy halibut, lings and more!

On Sunday at noon we got 2 calls back to back looking for two spots the next day....we pulled a trip together and the weather made for a long range day we fit in to get them all back to catch the afternoon ferry!  Roger has been in AK for over 20 years since he immigrated from the Phillipines, but had not been out fishing in the ocean until this day!  He had the lucky rod and reeled in the biggest halibut and ling cod!!!

Our friends opened up Seldovia Roasting Co this summer and have working their booties off!  We all jumped out on the water this beautiful Sunday afternoon. Rosie and Dewey (the cook) got their first rodeo fishing Alaska! Rosie reeled in a huge 'But that got her in the BIG 'But club and will fill her freezer for the winter!

We extended out season into September with the arrival of the NEW BOAT!  The first to jump on the open dates were our local friends John and Bill with some of their friends!  Laurie got on the wall with a 20# king and they had a boatload of fish!  They finished their weekend organizing a sweet golf tournament at Outside Beach to benefit the historic Russian Church.

Dell, Dell and Donna came to us for a whole week on recommendation from their friends Dave & peggy who were the original owners of SFA. A bucket list AK trip that was full of fishy fun! Robyn our local friend had her family in town and they joined the triple D crew one day reeling in a wall of fame halibut!

Our buddy Keith always sends the most fun groups of people to see us! He also tends to tag along for the fun too! His buddy Scott brought this amazing group of guys for a couple crazy days full of epic fishing and even broken bones!...don't worry everything turned out good, just a detour to Homer to the ER, to reset a dislocated shoulder and set a broken arm and the fishing continued.  These guys are hardcore and don't let anything get in their way of a good time!!

Ralph and Deb come to visit every year!  This year they brought their kids and we had a week of great fun between some nasty weather! Lings, BIG 'buts and Salmon!!

Yutaka and Kai brought the good vibes and weather for an awesome long range trip!~ Both joined the wall of fame with their BIG Hali-Booties (as Kai calls them) and found a couple beautiful silvers and a king!

Finally got back through the jellyfish and found a beauty of a king along with the boat load of halibut and cod!

Ryan and Remi are the big four years old this year
and were so excited to come back for their second trip
with Captain Chris! Last year the sisters were only
three years old and rallied! This year they limited the
boat again, setting their own gear, reeling in their own
fish, and of course, bonking them all on the head and
finishing them with a kiss!
Watch out for these two they are going to be a force to
reckon with!!

Craig has old friends in Seldovia and brought his daughter-in-law Christine up last year with her girlfriends for an adventure! This year they came back with their significant others.  Her husband Jesse was determined not to get sea sick...bringing all the stops! He succeeded and Christine got herself on the wall of fame with a 65#er!

Aiden & Cameron tag teamed this 82# 'but to get it in the boat along with other monsters!  The whole family reeled up the bottom of the ocean and took home a freezer full of fish!

Jackie got her first King!! We celebrated with a delicious blackened salmon bowl for dinner!

Jo a fish biologist from the East Coast jumped on with the Larabee family last minute and they brought in a boat load of halibut and kings!

The Tilly's have a cabin in Seldovia and have been coming for years, but have never gone out for a halibut trip until now.  They had a blast with Mike and Zach who continue to come with us year after year and bring in some fabulous fish!

Justin and Amanda always find the BIG fish and their luck rubbed off on the others over these couple days.  Teryn came by herself last year and brought her dad Mitch up from CA this year for an epic trip!  His freezer was bulging when he unpacked his catch at home. Brian and his dad Ron also got in on the fun with some big lings!

Another one for the wall and training the next generation for this amazing day job!

16 people come together every year for over 14 years to remember their friend and this year our friend Lindy brought her crew to Seldovia!  Big fish, stories and laughs...our home and boat were full of love! A sequin party fish fry filled the house with fun and left glitter all around, even the guys got in on the bling!

Rob was back for round 2 already this year and hooked a HUGE octopus which Amanda help me cooked up into a beautiful creation! And they got some nice halibuts too;)

Our newest crew member Cambria came out with her family our Seldovia summer friends for fun filled adventure!

A little or a lot of EVERYTHING! That is what this crew form Texas did in their 3 days in Seldovia.  Wall of fame halibuts, Lings and Kings!  Limits of it all!

The Kottke family love giving Captain Chris aka Sparky a hard time and fill the boat with laughter and fish!

Mo & Nicole came back this year and got hitched at Land's End in Homer on their way to see us! Their friends and our other guests Judy & Bruce reeled in a ton a awesome fish!

Kevin and his crew came down last year to fish Seldovia in their 21' Silverstreak and had us processes their catch. This year decided to jump ship for one day and hop on with captain Chris to see if he could show them how to get on the Kings.  They didn't find any monster kings, but when it turned on it was hot and Cody ended up joining the BIG 'But club with a 70#!

We had a mixed group on the boat, Samuel jumped on the boat without his family for an Alaska fishing experience, Samuel who is in town working at the Linnwood for the summer and Jean & Kathy who have a place in Homer, but wanted to venture across the bay!

Our buddy Keith is having a bunch of his friends come fish and he is tagging along....great plan!  Jenny's crew was his first bunch to come this year and her husband Ken made it on the wall of fame and experienced a weekend of Alaska sunshine as bright as his jacket!

Ashley's family got their fish on to get ready for her BIG day in Seldovia!  The groom didn't make it on the boat, but she did...crashed the bachelor party and made a BOG splash! They filled the boat with Kings, one being the biggest for SFA yet...34#! And they got a 'but for the wall of fame!

David's and his buddies used to fish with the legend Dave and called us up 2 years ago to book their trip!  It turned out to be well worth the wait!!

Mike and Matthew had a great day on the waters reeling in beautiful kings and loading up on cod!

The King derby started late this month, but once it did we got some nice fish on the board!

Rob and Laura starting coming to us with their friends and family last summer and their first trip of 2024 was just for them and full of salmon! On the rod and on the table!

We love taking out our neighbors and this trip was so special since we took Aiva for her first charter! She was sooo excited to hook a king and her dramatic expression on how hard it was to reel it in could have won an Emmy!

Summer and her dad Randy have done an Alaska fishing trip every summer since she moved to Alaska and last year they stumble on our business and decided to hop across the bay...well they came back and the tradition is now to fish Seldovia! A big 'but to get on the wall and lots of meat to fill the freezer!

Halibut, cod & yelloweye!

Both of these crews were back for their 3rd season with us.  Lowden who had his first time fishing 3 years ago got to help Chase with his first time out! Since Chase was the BIG 3 this year mom decided that he was ready and boy was he! He even helped drive the boat! PS dad got to go out this year too...it had been mom's adventure the last two years;)

Our friends from MT came up to help us with our annual supply trip to Anchorage and get things some spring projects finished.  Aaron managed to haul in the BIGGEST 'But to date at 171#! The local kiddos loved coming to the dock to see that catch!

Ashley's dad and uncle came up to help spruce up the exterior of the B&B and landscape.  We of course had to get our and play. Some early season fishing really paid off!

We still cannot believe that captain Chris reeled up the winner...a white king at that for the 2024 Homer Winter King Derby!  20min after lines in the water and the only fish we boarded that day. A day we will never forget!
